What is involved in a mini facelift?

Nowadays younger people are opting to combat facial aging earlier, by doing a smaller procedure like a mini facelift, so that they are less likely to need an extensive procedure later on. But what is involved in a mini facelift, and how effective is it.

What’s involved in a mini facelift
A mini facelift focuses only on a minimum area of tissue in the lower third of the face. This includes the lower cheeks, jowls, and jawline. During the procedure the surgeon will remove excess skin, and elevate the SMAS layer.

The mini facelift tends to heal faster, because it requires a smaller incision than the one used for a full facelift.  The incisions for this type of facelift are less extensive, and are usually made around the ears. There is less post-operative bruising and swelling with the mini facelift. On the other hand, the results may not be as long lasting as those achieved with a full facelift, nor will they be as dramatic.

Are you a good candidate?
If you would like to correct fullness in the lower part of the face, achieve a more defined jawline and eliminate jowls, you are likely to be a good candidate for a mini facelift.

How effective is a mini facelift
A mini facelift can be beneficial for the right candidate. However, it’s important to visit a board certified plastic surgeon with a lot of experience performing the procedure. The surgeon will discuss your specific aesthetic goals, and then determine if a mini facelift would be the right procedure for you.
