Do you avoid going sleeveless because you feel self-conscious about the sagging skin on your upper arms also known as ‘bat wings.’ You don’t have to, because it’s possible to get rid of those bat wings for good.
How can I get rid of my bat wings?
You can get rid of your bat wings with an arm lift. An arm lift or brachioplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is done to reshape and rejuvenate the appearance of the upper arms. Sagging skin on the upper arm is usually a consequence of loss of skin elasticity over time, or significant weight loss. An arm lift removes the excess skin, and improves the contour of the arm.
Arm lift surgery
Arm lift surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. During surgery an incision is made on the underside of the upper arms, in the area between the armpit and elbow, and the excess skin and tissue is removed. The skin is then redraped to contour the arms. Liposuction is often combined with arm lift surgery to remove any excess fat, and refine the arms.
Recovery and Results
After arm lift surgery patients can expect to experience some swelling, bruising, and soreness. Compression bandages are usually placed around the arms to help minimize swelling. Patients will notice some improvement in the shape of the arms immediately after surgery, but final results can take several months to show.
